Q: I am confused because some information indicates that Nano Cosmetics are not safe and other information indicates they are safe and work great. Are nano cosmetics safe? A: The safety of Nano skin care products totally depends on the ingredients used. Because use of nanotechnology enhances the absorption into the skin of the ingredients used, if the ingredients are harmful chemicals, then more harmful chemicals would be absorbed into the skin, and, therefore nano skin care products with harmful nano ingredients would be unsafe. On the other hand, if the ingredients used in the nano skin care products are all natural organic nutrients as are contained in all our products, then the nano skin care products would not only be safe but also more efficient than non-nano products because they enhance absorption of the organic nutrients and antioxidants to the skin and nourish the skin cells more effectively and better protect them from the environment.

Thus using natural, organic ingredients for skin care products is especially important when Nano Technology is used to increase the absorption of the active ingredients.

The skin is the largest organ of the body, absorbing nutrients and eliminating toxins. It is well known that up to 60% of the make-up we use is absorbed and may be deposited in our lymphatic or circulatory system.

If harmful cosmetic additive chemicals such as aluminum, metal oxides, benzoates, di-butyl phthalate, formaldehydes, and other harmful chemicals are used in Nano Skin care products, and if these harmful ingredients enter cells in our body or leach into the bloodstream, they could have long term harmful health effects and could also damage the skin instead of heal and rejuvenate the skin.

Q: Are your Nano Skin Care Products safe? A: NOL nano skin care products are safe and effective. Unlike most nano cosmetic companies, we do not use any man-made chemical fibers, fillers, preservatives, parabens, or harmful chemicals. We only use natural organic ingredients to rapidly bring back your natural glowing beautiful skin and healthy body.

Q: Why do some claim Gold is good for the skin and some claim Gold has harmful side effects? A: Pure Gold (metal) and Gold containing chemicals (Gold compounds)have very different chemical properties.

We all know that Pure Gold metal is extremely inert and is an excellent anti-oxidant and that is why it has been commonly used for dental repair for over one hundred years.

Gold metal has remarkable anti-aging properties and health benefits, and is well known for treating Sunburn very effectively. Gold speeds recovery from UV damage by encouraging the skin's DNA repair mechanism to self-correct. Gold also reduces the signs of collagen degradation.

Nano-sized pure gold particles have been proven to be very effective in treating various diseases including mycobacterial-, collagen- and pristane-induced arthritis without side effects.

On the other hand, Gold compounds, depending on the exact elements in the Gold Compound, are NOT inert. Gold compounds can easily react with oxygen and other chemicals, and can be toxic. These reactive and toxic Gold compounds can cause serious side effects if they enter our body and accumulate.

Q: If your products contain Gold, why don’t they have a Gold color? A: Although Gold normally has a yellow color, Nano-sized Gold has a pink or Rose color due to changes in the optical property of Gold when it becomes very small-sized (less than 100 nanometers). As you can see, our Anti-Wrinkle Serum has a light pink color, indicating that our Gold is truly nano-sized Gold. Although our other products do contain Nano Gold, they may not show the rose color due to the high concentration of other ingredients that mask the effects of the Gold. It is well known that Gold has many skin and health benefits. Nano-sized Gold has much greater efficacy than regular sized Gold due to its small size and increased absorption efficiency.

Q: What are phytonutrients? A: Phytonutrients are chemicals from plants. These chemicals act as antioxidants and detoxifiers that protect the plants from oxidants and toxins, both present externally and internally generated, that would rob vitality, and sooner or later cause the plant to suffer sickness and premature death. There are many different kinds of phytonutrients. When we include an abundant wide variety of these plant nutrients in our diets, we get some of the very same protection and benefits! This is why safe, consumable plants high in phytonutrients are called super foods.

Q: What are antioxidants? A: Antioxidants are natural substances that fight harmful molecules called free radicals. Free radicals are a normal byproduct of living things creating energy. They are also produced from smoking, radiation, sunlight, high sugar diets, polyunsaturated and trans fats, and chemical pollutants. Even exercising causes free radicals! If well nourished and not over stressed, our bodies create their own antioxidants, but never enough to prevent the slow but steady "burning up" of our tissues. This oxidation damage builds up over time, leading eventually to the common signs and symptoms of aging, such as wrinkles, arthritis, cataracts, macular degeneration, emphysema, heart disease, strokes and cancer.

It is interesting to note that the longer a species of animal lives, the more antioxidants it has in its body. Much evidence now exists that a diet high in antioxidants from fruits, vegetables, sprouted shoots and greens, algae, herbs and spices helps delay the onset of the above common complications and disease of aging by supplying extra warriors in the never ending battle against free radical damage.

Q: What is Hyaluronic Acid and why do you have it in your Anti-wrinkle Serum? A: Hyaluronic Acid (also called Hyaluronan or Hyaluronate or HA) is a major component of skin, where it is involved in tissue repair. HA is found naturally in almost every cell in the body. HA retains water - absorbing more than 1,000 times its weight - and adds volume to the skin’s surface. It has been used in eye surgery as a replacement fluid in the eye. Applied topically to wounds and severe burns, it can promote rapid healing and reduce scarring.

HA binds with collagen and elastin and transports essential nutrients to cells within the skin. When topically applied, Hyaluronic acid forms an air permeable layer and penetrates into the dermis, thus boosting the elasticity and hydration of the skin. The protective breathable barrier on the skin locks in moisture which gives the skin a youthful glowing appearance. In addition, it works synergistically with Nano Gold and protects the skin from UV and the environment.

Q: Where does HA come from? A: Currently there are two forms of HA on the market: one form is made from rooster combs and the other form is produced by plant fermentation. The plant derived HA can yield higher molecular weight HA than the animal derived HA. The weight of the molecule directly influences its “moisture-binding” capability. Thus, it is important to use HA with high molecular weight to maximize efficacy.

There are many US based companies that sell HA that is produced from worldwide sources, including China and other Asian countries and some European countries. At Nano Organic Living, we only use the plant derived high molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid that is produced in the United States and Europe.
